Group Tour Rates & Details

Group tour reservations are required no less than three weeks in advance. Groups must have a minimum of 15 individuals to book a private, docent-guided tour. 

Per person ticket charges include all members of the group, including Museum members. Museum membership does not include complimentary admission when part of a group tour. For additional information, please contact our Group Tours Team at grouptours@ilhmec.org or 847.967.4849.

Museum Information

The Museum is open Wednesdays through Mondays, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. The Museum is closed on Tuesdays. 

Complimentary coat check is available, and small lockers are available for 25 cents. There are water fountains and vending machines in the building. There is free Wi-Fi inside the building, and photography is allowed in most areas unless otherwise noted.

Wheelchairs are available at no cost on a first-come, first-served basis. An elevator is available on all three public levels of the Museum. Service animals as defined by the ADA are welcome. If additional accommodations are necessary, please contact the Group Tours team at grouptours@ilhmec.org or 847.967.4849.

The Museum is also available for private meetings and events.

Group Tour Information

Group tours are only available during regular operating hours (Wednesdays through Mondays, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm). The Museum is closed on Tuesdays. We recommend visiting in the afternoon when the Museum is less crowded. The Museum is busiest in the morning, especially February – May. 

Each group tour is customized to fit the needs and interests of your group. Please use these guidelines when planning your visit: 

Docent-guided tour of Holocaust Exhibition | 1.5 hours, walking tour 

Docent-guided tour of Special Exhibition | 30-45 minutes, walking tour 

Survivor Stories Experience Holographic Theater | 30-40 minutes, seated 

Group Tour Rates

  • Adults: age 23-64
  • Seniors: age 65+
  • Youth: age 12-22

Docent-Guided Tour (min. 15 participants)

  • Adults – $15 per person
  • Seniors – $12 per person
  • Youth – $10 per person

Docent-Guided Tour & Survivor Speaker (min. 20 participants)
Includes: Private Docent-Guided Tour and Survivor Speaker Session

  • Adults – $22 per person
  • Seniors – $19 per person
  • Youth – $17 per person

Virtual Group Tour Rates 

Thematic Virtual Group Tours: $150 (flat-rate)

Non-profit Virtual Group Tour: $250 per 100 attendees

After regular weekday business hours of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Central, or on Sundays, the rate is $350 per 100 attendees.

Corporate Virtual Group Tour: $500 per 100 attendees

After regular weekday business hours of 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Central, or on Sundays, the rate is $700 per 100 attendees.

How to Book

Begin the process by submitting a Group Tour Request Form.  You will receive an email from the Group Tours Team to begin discussing your visit. Once a date and agenda are established, we will secure your reservation by emailing you a confirmation letter outlining your agenda, important dates, and ways to submit payment. 

A 50% deposit is due one month ahead of your tour. The final headcount, final payment, and deli lunch order (if applicable) are due one week ahead of your tour. Payment can be made in one of the following ways:

Purchase orders are not accepted.

If you need to cancel your tour, contact Group Tours immediately at grouptours@ilhmec.org or 847.967.4875. A full deposit refund will be mailed if the tour is canceled with at least three weeks’ notice. If you cancel your tour with less than three weeks’ notice and more than 10 days before its scheduled date, your deposit can be applied toward another tour for the same organization if the rescheduled tour will take place within 6 months of the originally scheduled date.  

Parking & Arrival

Free parking is available for cars and buses in our west lot. You can download driving & parking information before your visit, as well as a printable map of the Museum.

Buses, ride shares, and drivers should drop off guests on the east side of the building (facing I-94).  Pull into the driveway on the north side and continue around the building to the east side.  Drop off guests in front of the gray doors. 

Bus parking is on the west side of the building, across Woods Drive. 

Buses, ride shares, and drivers should pick up guests on the east side of the building, in front of the white doors. 

All group tour guests must enter the main entrance and proceed to security. Purses, handbags, and backpacks are welcome but will be x-rayed and subject to search. Please do not bring luggage.

Meal Offerings

Whether your group is coming from another venue, spending most of the day at the Museum, or on a tight schedule, add to the authentic experience by dining on Chicago deli food from a favorite local venue.
