Rates & How to Schedule a Field Trip

On-site field trips are available for groups of 10 or more for students ages 8-22. The maximum number of students depends on the type of field trip, and group sizes range from 10–160 students. If you exceed the maximum number of students allowed on a field trip, please fill out an additional tour request form for each field trip you would like to schedule.

The Museum also offers virtual field trips, allowing educators from around the world to provide an interactive learning experience online. The Museum’s virtual field trip experiences are meant to be used either in a virtual classroom or watched individually by students.

Should you have a question or need help booking a field trip, please email education@ilhmec.org or call the Museum at 847.967.4848.

Step 1: Choose Your Field Trip

Choose from on-site or virtual field trip experiences. For virtual field trips, choose the day you would like to receive the virtual asynchronous field trip link and your preferred date for a virtual live Q&A with a docent or a live speaker (if applicable).

Step 2: Choose Your Date

In order to accommodate your request, please select three dates. Availability is updated weekly. Field trips last from two to three hours, not including lunch, depending on content. Lunch is an additional 20 minutes before or after your tour, depending on the option selected. We require a minimum of three weeks’ notice if you would like to book an additional live component, such as a Survivor speaker, for your field trip.  Please allow 10 business days for the Museum to confirm your booking.

Step 3: Plan Your Day

For on-site field trips, please review the policies listed below. For virtual field trips, prepare your students for our asynchronous virtual field trip with pre-visit activities. Please make sure you have your virtual link for your live Q&A with a Docent or live speaker (If applicable).

Step 4: Maximize Learning

Check out our virtual online resources for an in-depth look into the topics of the Holocaust, genocide, social-emotional learning, and civic education. Request a Virtual Teaching Trunk to supplement your field trip.

Step 5: Reach Out if You Need Help

If you have a question or need help booking a field trip, please email education@ilhmec.org or call the Museum at 847.967.4848.
