Book & Author: A Blessing, Not a Burden

July 20, 2025 | 2:30pm CDT

Wayfarer Theater, 1850 2nd St, Highland Park, IL 60035

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon with Dr. Alex Kor, son of two Holocaust survivors, and co-author Graham Honaker, as they share the deeply moving story behind their acclaimed book, A Blessing, Not a Burden.

This powerful new work chronicles the extraordinary lives of Alex’s parents—Eva Mozes Kor, a well-known Holocaust educator and survivor of Josef Mengele’s experiments at Auschwitz, and Mickey Kor, a fellow survivor who later served in Israel’s 1948 War of Independence. With heart and clarity, the book also explores how their legacy shaped Alex’s life and deepened his own call to remembrance, resilience, and forgiveness.

The program will feature a compelling conversation with Dr. Kor and Mr. Honaker, a reading from the book, and an opportunity to engage directly with the authors in an audience Q&A. A book signing will follow the program.

Dr. Kor is a practicing podiatrist, professor, and board member of CANDLES Holocaust Museum & Education Center. He has visited Auschwitz more than twenty times and helped establish the Eva Kor: From Auschwitz to Indiana exhibit at the Indiana Historical Society. Mr. Honaker is a veteran higher education advancement leader and author of three books centered on leadership, sports, and memory.

This event underscores the power of storytelling to preserve memory, confront hatred, and inspire healing across generations.

Free to the public. Reservations required.
