Jones Day Foundation Community Series | Exclusive Screening and Conversation: Sabotage
Sabotage illuminates the little-known story of a remarkable act of resistance during the
Holocaust. This powerful film takes you inside the dramatic events of January 1945, just days
before Auschwitz-Birkenau was evacuated. It recounts the bravery, friendship, and ultimate
tragedy of four forced laborers-Estusia Wajcblum, Rosa Robota, Alla Gartner, and Regina
Safirstein-who were publicly executed for sabotaging the Nazi war machine.
The story unfolds through the eyes of Anna Heilman, Estusia’s sister and the youngest member of
the resistance. Chronicling their underground operation, the film uses Anna’s diary entries written
under the horrific conditions of Auschwitz-to provide a uniquely personal and profound
look at their defiance.
Join us for an exclusive, post-screening discussion and Q&A with Ariela Heilman, daughter of
Auschwitz resistance hero Anna Heilman. This gripping film and the personal insights that follow
tell a story of heroism and solidarity you absolutely cannot miss.
