In humanity’s darkest hour, when millions were silenced by the machinery of the Holocaust, a courageous few refused to stand by. They were ordinary people who chose defiance over fear, risking their lives to save others from certain death. Today, their stories, recognized by Yad Vashem as “Righteous Among the Nations,” remain urgent reminders of the power of moral courage, and a tribute to the courageous few who dared to do what was right.

In In the Garden of the Righteous, author Richard Hurowitz chronicles ten remarkable stories of resistance and rescue, from a circus ringmaster and his wife who hid Jewish performers, to diplomats, athletes, and everyday citizens who forged papers, ran underground networks, and refused to betray the hunted. These deeply researched accounts illuminate the moral choices of ordinary people who faced extraordinary danger and chose to act.

Join us as Hurowitz discusses these inspiring lives with Rick Salomon, Senior Fellow at the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights and Museum Executive Board Member. The evening will include a moderated conversation, followed by a book signing opportunity.

Free to the public. Reservations required.
