Film & Discussion: Sweet Lorraine in Auschwitz
Sweet Lorraine in Auschwitz follows the harrowing journey of Frank (Miša) Grunwald, a ten-year-old boy whose life was upended when the Germans invaded Czechoslovakia. Torn from his family and imprisoned in five concentration camps, Frank found solace and strength in the music that became his lifeline. At age 89, he recounts his remarkable journey of endurance, loss, and hope, playing the same American jazz that sustained him through the darkest days. Filmed across Europe at the sites that shaped his story, this moving documentary reveals the triumph of the human spirit amid unimaginable horror.
Following the screening, join us for an insightful Q&A session moderated by Kelley Szany, Museum SVP of Education & Exhibitions and a featured scholar in the film. The discussion will feature director Phillip Paluso, writer and producer Amber Maze, and co-producer Jamie Kramer.
