Volunteer

Become Part of the IHMEC Team

Volunteers are an integral part of the IHMEC team and serve as ambassadors for the Museum. We look for commitment, positive energy, flexibility, and great customer service skills.

While the Museum has received tremendous response to its initial volunteer training, we will always rely on the generosity of volunteers. We are currently accepting applications for all volunteer Visitor Services positions.

  • Docents – Volunteers lead student and adult tours through the Museum. Docents commit to an intensive academic and hands-on training program. We are not currently accepting applications. To add your name to a waiting list for future docent trainings, please email us.

  • Visitor Service Volunteers – Volunteers work in public Museum positions – selling tickets, helping in the gift shop, at coat check, special events, the information and membership desks, etc. Currently seeking volunteers with evening and weekend availability; weekday positions are filled.

  • Administrative Volunteers – Volunteers work behind-the-scenes in various departments of the Museum, as needed.
