Holocaust Remembrance Committee

Join the Holocaust Remembrance Committee,
the young leadership of the Museum

The Holocaust Remembrance Committee includes young professionals committed to remembering and teaching the lessons of the Holocaust. The group’s mission is to educate younger adults about the Holocaust, to learn and protect the stories of Holocaust survivors through the Generation to Generation program, and to raise awareness of the Museum.

The Holocaust Remembrance Committee (HRC) is comprised of people ages 22-35 in the Chicago community who feel a connection to the Holocaust. HRC members may have grandparents who are survivors, may have had family perish in the Holocaust, or may be involved because they are passionate about educating future generations about that era. As the survivor population dwindles with each passing day, it is HRC’s responsibility to preserve their stories and memories.

How to get involved >

  • Attend quarterly meetings during the year
  • Attend events throughout the year, including outreach and education events
  • Join a committee, as described below
    • Programming Committee - This committee is headed by two program chairs who plan an outreach event and an education event during the year. The outreach event held in the Spring/Summer is a social gathering held to generate interest in the group and provide a fun social setting for people to learn more about the museum and HRC. The education event is held in the Fall with a big name speaker, and topics typically include the Holocaust or other genocides.
    • Generation to Generation Committee - This committee facilitates a program in which a young person is paired with a survivor to learn and then tell their story when the survivors are no longer able to. The committee meets regularly, as do the survivor and HRC member pair. Learn more about the Generation to Generation Program >
