Preserve the Legacy
Generation to Generation: The Stories Live On, is a program that will pair a member of the Holocaust Remembrance Committee (HRC) with a survivor, with the eventual goal of these young leaders becoming the next generation of museum speakers.
Generation to Generation is based on the idea that young leaders will bear the responsibility to express the survivors' stories when they are no longer able to do so themselves. The pairs will form a relationship through shared activities, such as meeting for coffee, playing golf, or attending a cultural event.
To be a young participant in this program, the creators of Generation to Generation require participation with the Holocaust Remembrance Committee. Commitment to this unique program is essential - survivors depend on the young leaders for this special relationship, and we believe that commitment to the program can be shown once a person is active in the Holocaust Remembrance Committee. There are training manuals for the Generation to Generation program for young leaders to learn about sensitivity issues.

As survivors fade away, the Museum is trying a unique way to preserve their legacies. Each survivor’s story will become the responsibility of an individual partner. WBEZ’s Gabriel Spitzer watched that process unfold over most of a year, and he brings us the story of Allison Russ and Cipora Katz.
