BOOK & AUTHOR: Leila Levinson
Sunday, June 10, 2012 – 1:30 pm
Leila Levinson came upon photos of a Nazi concentration camp at the time of liberation among her late father’s World War II belongings. Over a period of five years, Ms. Levinson interviewed other veterans who had also opened the gates of hell. Her book, Gated Grief: The Daughter of a GI Concentration Camp Liberator Discovers a Legacy of Trauma, explores not only the pain these memories produce among the eyewitnesses, but also the lasting impact on their children.
