The Mayor Richard M. and Maggie C. Daley Education Fund
On April 12, 2011 the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center announced the creation of the Mayor Richard M. and Maggie C. Daley Education Fund to honor the Daley family’s longstanding commitment to Holocaust education.
Contributions to the Daley Education Fund support the mission of the Illinois Holocaust Museum by facilitating outreach to Chicago Public School students and schoolchildren across the Midwest, enabling them to visit the Museum, learn the universal lessons of the Holocaust, and become empowered to stand up for others. Students also have the rare opportunity to meet with Holocaust survivors through the Museum’s Speakers’ Bureau and hear their inspirational stories of survival during history’s darkest days.
The Daley Education Fund provides critical resources to ensure that no student is denied a visit because of funding limitations. Contributions also support teacher training workshops and seminars to equip educators with knowledge and best practices in Holocaust and genocide education.
The volunteers, staff and leadership of the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center are proud to carry on this realization of the Daley family’s steadfast commitment to Holocaust education. Because of this enduring legacy, tens of thousands of students annually will learn the tragic lessons of the Holocaust and how society must overcome intolerance and indifference.
The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center would like to thank its current contributors to The Mayor Richard M. and Maggie C. Daley Education Fund for promoting and recognizing the importance of Holocaust and genocide education.
