IHMEC Internship Opportunities
The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center encourages undergraduate and graduate college students and recent college graduates who wish to expand their working knowledge of the Museum and not-for-profit communities, as well as the Holocaust and current genocide, to apply for internship opportunities. Interns have the opportunity to focus their hands-on work within one Department while gaining understanding about all aspects of the Museum.
The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Holocaust by honoring the memories of those who were lost and by teaching universal lessons that combat hatred, prejudice and indifference. Interns help the Museum fulfill its mission by working with the exhibition, preservation and interpretation of its collections and through education programs and initiatives that foster the promotion of human rights and the elimination of genocide.
There are three internship application deadlines and work periods, during which time interns must commit to working at least 20 hours/week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Some positions may require select evening or weekend availability to accommodate special events. During this time, interns may complete a variety of tasks within their Department and may have the opportunity to attend Department meetings, special events, and rotational lectures.
The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center does not offer paid internships but will participate in cooperative credit programs.
