The overall goal of the collection management internship is to gain an understanding and gather experience of collections management and registration practices within a museum environment. In addition, interns in collections management may learn proper object handling methods, re-housing and documentation of the collections through digital photography. Other projects may include research projects and work on updating the Museum’s collections and museum policies.
As a collections management intern, students will receive professional guidance and mentoring from the Illinois Holocaust Museum's Collection Manager and Registrar. Interns will be trained on both the Museum’s paper and computerized collections management system.
The Education Intern assists the Education Department with organization, scheduling, and public outreach as the Museum continues to grow and educate the Midwest region about the Holocaust and genocide. The Education Department works with school groups to expand knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust and hosts continued training for teachers who wish to enrich their classroom curriculum. The Department also works closely with survivors who educate students and adult by sharing their personal stories.
Sharpen your marketing and communications skills in a dynamic museum environment while working to make the world a better place. The Marketing and Public Relations Intern will work directly with the Director of Marketing on a variety of projects that support the Museum’s mission through social media, marketing and public relations initiatives.
This is an unpaid internship with flexible hours, minimum 20 hours per week for 3 months.
We are looking for an I.T. Intern to assist the I.T. Manager in the daily functions within the I.T. department.
The candidate must have or be progressing towards a degree in an Information Technology related field including Computer Science/Engineering. The I.T. Intern will start with a basic knowledge of Desktop computing, and will be taught a great deal about Server computing/networking.
