Holocaust Remembrance Committee

Join the Holocaust Remembrance Committee, the young leadership of the museum

The group’s mission is to educate younger adults about the Holocaust, learn the stories of Holocaust survivors, and raise awareness about the new museum.

For more information contact Julie Avchen at the Museum, either by phone 847.967.4800, or by email, hrc@ilhmec.org

How to get involved >
  • Attend quarterly HRC meetings
  • Join any of our four committees
    • Education Committee - Help plan our educational events that occur throughout the year.  Past events include speakers such as Reverend Otis Moss III, Mark Hanis, John Prendergast, Alex Kotlowitz, and Deborah Lipstadt.
    • Outreach Committee - Organize our social events for the year, helping to increase community awareness of HRC and draw more members to the group.  This committee also works on community service projects.
    •  Fundraising Committee - Join this group to help raise funds for the museum, through events throughout the year and aiding in the membership campaign.  Last year, this committee created a calendar comprised of survivors recipes, documenting something that we all have in common – the culture of food that embraces our traditions and values. The calendar was very popular and sold out quickly!
    • Generation to Generation Committee - Serve on the committee that runs the Generation to Generation program, which pairs a young leader with a Holocaust survivor.  Learn more about the Generation to Generation Program >
