Group Tours Program

IHMEC is pleased to offer a wide-array of docent-led tour options for groups of 10 to 160 guests. Please be sure to review our group tour registration, tour options, availability, policies, and pricing before registering for your visit.

PLANNING YOUR VISIT & REGISTRATION

Advanced reservations are required for all docent-led group tours. Please make your reservation at least three weeks in advance of your visit. For reservations during peak season (February – June), please call in advance to ensure availability.

TOUR OPTIONS

Karkomi Permanent Exhibition - $15 per person; 160 visitors maximum

 

Docents provide context and understanding of the Museum's permanent exhibition which explores pre-war life, ghettos and concentration camps, liberation and resettlement around the world. The exhibition has a special focus on post-war life in Skokie and concludes with a summary film that connects the lessons of the Holocaust with other genocides around the world. The tour is approximately 2 hours in length. One docent per 15-20 visitors is provided. 
  
 

Special Exhibitions - $15 per person; 40 visitor maximum

 

Docents add insight to these world-class special exhibitions which explore broad themes related to the mission of the Museum. The tour also includes a walk through and discussion of the Museum’s contemplative spaces and symbolic architecture. The tour is approximately 1 ½ hour in length. One docent per 15-20 visitors is provided.
An orientation to the Museum and Karkomi Permanent Exhibition is provided if you wish to visit other
sections of the Museum at the conclusion of the tour. These sections will not be docent-led.

Legacy of Absence Gallery - $15 per person; 40 visitor maximum

 

Explore this fine art gallery which focuses on contemporary artistic responses to genocides and other atrocities with a trained docent. The tour also includes a walk through and discussion of the Museum’s contemplative spaces and symbolic architecture. The tour is approximately 1 ½ hour in length.  One docent per 15-20 visitors is provided. 
    
An orientation to the Museum and Karkomi Permanent Exhibition is provided if you wish to visit other sections of the Museum at the conclusion of the tour. These sections will not be docent-led
   

Reservation Confirmation

  • You will receive an email confirmation within 5-7 business days of completing your registration.  If you do not receive your email confirmation within 5 -7 business days, please call 847.967.4849 M-F, 9:00 am-4:30pm or email grouptours@ilhmec.org as soon as possible.
 
  • Review your confirmation carefully including the date and time of your tour, tour option, confirmed number of visitors; and any special requests such as Speakers’ Bureau or dining reservations.
