APRIL 3 | Chicago Breaking News: Powell Speaks at Illinois Holocaust MuseumThe gala is the first in a series of unique and very special events that will celebrate the opening of the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center. A gorgeous tent on the grounds of the museum at 9603 Woods Drive in Skokie will be the site of an event that we hope will raise $2 million to benefit the new museum and its educational programs. Very Special Guest: General Colin PowellIHMEC is proud to announce that General Colin L. Powell will be the honored guest at the Inaugural Gala. The Honorable Colin L. Powell has served his country and the world with dignity and distinction for more than 30 years. A four-star general in the U.S. Army, former Secretary of State, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and National Security Advisor, he represents the finest in American leadership.
Likely the last major Holocaust museum to be built in collaboration with survivors, the new Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center will be the largest institution in the Midwest dedicated to preserving the memories of those lost in the Holocaust and teaching current generations to fight hatred, indifference and genocide in today's world. Please join us as we honor the courage and inspiration of our survivors, thank the countless friends and supporters who have helped make this dream a reality, and begin the countdown to opening day.
