2009 Student Arts & Writing Contest
The biennial Gershanov Family Memorial Student Arts and Writing Contest offers Illinois students in grades 7 through 12 an opportunity to respond to their study of the Holocaust and contemporary genocide through poetry, creative writing, illustration, and other methods of artistic expression.

2009 Leo & Antonia Gershanov Memorial Student Arts and Writing contest examines the theme, "Memory Keepers – Transform the Future."

A museum is an avenue through which we access history.  We then become the vehicle that carries history with us to transform the future.  Students are asked to create a memorial to the Holocaust or other contemporary genocide in the form of a poem, story, drawing or painting, or musical composition.

Please Note: Starting this year, all submissions must be sent electronically.  No mailed submissions will be accepted.  The deadline for submissions is March 2, 2009.

Download the contest guidelines and requirements here or contact contest@ilhmec.org for further information.
